The museum was constructed with financial support from the French Far-East Research Institute in Vietnam. Cham Musuem is home to an extensive collection of artworks of Cham.
The Cham architectural style is reflected in the museum building. The origination of Cham architecture is from the 5th century matriarchal society that lasted until the 15th century.
Among the permanent collection of the Cham Museum, there are around 300 sculptures approximately 300 terracotta and mud-baked sculptures that were once part of the Cham temples. The ten rooms and galleries in the museum house this collection. Other exhibits are located in the exterior compounds and lawns of the place.
