Tourist Attractions in Trinidad & Tobago

Trinidad & Tobago makes for an interesting vacation option. The most fascinating here is the carnival for which a large number of tourists come every year. Describing the carnival in words is something impossible. You have to see it in person to experience its grandeur. Apart from this there are several other tourist attractions in Trinidad & Tobago. As both these places are islands, therefore beaches are its integral part. However at Tobago the beaches are more prominent. Marcas Bay is the most gorgeous beach of Trinidad. It is sheltered amidst two mountain ranges which stretch down into the sea. Las Cuevas is another remarkable beach of Trinidad. Most of the Trinidad beaches are very crowded.

If you want to experience tranquility and serene atmosphere, then you should try the beaches at Tobago. The water here is calm and each of the beaches have a flavor of their own. On the southwest coast lies the Pigeon Point whereas at the off shore, you will find the extensive coral reef, Buccoo Reef. These beaches are the major tourist attractions at Trinidad & Tobago. Nature lovers can engage in plenty of activities here ranging from diving, swimming to snorkeling. Mangrove swamps and rainy forest add a fine touch to the beauty of the island.

Among the Trinidad & Tobago tourist attractions, Pitch Lake is an important tourist hangout. Majority of the world's asphalt is extracted from this natural lake of pitch(tar). The most fascinating fact of this lake is that even if pitch is pumped out of the lake, it fills up again naturally.

Tourist attractions in Trinidad & Tobago will seem incomplete if the different species found here are not mentioned. This place is an absolute paradise for the bird watchers. Scarlet Ibis is one of the birds which flies every night from South America to nest here. Apart from this other animals like amphibians, reptiles, monkeys and butterflies are also found here. Every year during the nesting season from March to August, leather back turtles come in large numbers to lay their eggs here.

There are also other tourist attractions in Trinidad & Tobago which you can explore while you are on your Trinidad & Tobago tours. Some of these places are located at the capital of Trinidad which is Port of Spain. These are:

  • Woodford square/Red House
  • Fredrick Street
  • Lara Promenade
  • Queen's Park Savannah
  • Fort George
