We can define Iceland as a land of snow-capped mountains, scenic beauty, geothermal spas and teeming wildlife. Reykjavik Arts Festival is one of the major Iceland International Events and is held from 16 May - 5 June 2008. This festival marks the fine mix of national as well as international performances in the respective field and is attended by the tourists and participated by various people. This festival first took place in the year 1970 and became the most well-liked one not only among the locals but also among the international tourists as it gave a platform to the performers to deliver their exhibit skills. Slowly it also gained the status among the major international events in Iceland.

This article remains incomplete without the mention of the National Independence Day that takes place on 17 June 2008. On this day the important personality Jón Sigurdsson was born and it was in the year 1944 that he helped the Icelanders in gaining independence. Parades, parties and live entertainment are held in the entire Iceland to observe this Icelandic holiday.
