Casa Colorada (Colored House)
The colonial mansion built back in the 18th century, opposite to Plaza de Armas is another tourist attraction in the city. The elegant red colored building is also the home for Santiago Museum, originally known as the Museo de Santiago. The museum houses very informative though a bit amateurish exhibits that speak a lot about the pre colonial times and the stages of development of the country till the modern era.

Museo Casa La Chascona (La Chascona House Museum)
The Santiago vacation-house/outhouse of the renowned poet Pablo Neruda, a Noble Prize winner has been converted into a museum named La Chascona. It is not a single house but an array of small buildings, situated on the neighborhoods of Bellavista. The buildings were damaged by General Pinochet supporters back in the day, but has been restored and made a museum ever since. The place hosts an interesting array of Neruda's possessions, which are major attractions for Neruda lovers and art enthusiasts in general. There is a museum guide tour for visitors (English/ Spanish) where the history of the possessions and furniture are explained.
