As one of the noted and famous Hollywood Attractions Hollywood Sign is a well known landmark in the Hollywood Hills area in Los Angeles. The sign was created as an advertisement in the year 1923, but it gained popularity in the forthcoming years. The Hollywood Sign over the years has been a major tourist attraction for people residing in Hollywood or outside. It has also been used in many movies and television promos.
As one of the Hollywood Attractions Hollywood Sign is promoted and protected by the Hollywood Sign Trust, which is non-profit entity. The objective of this governing body is to ensure the physical maintenance, security and repair of the sign. At the same time it aims at educating the world about its cultural and historical significance, thereby generating some funds in order to attain these objectives.
Hollywood Sign is located in south Mount Lee in the Griffith Park, which also is north of Mulholand Highway.
The location of the sign is amidst the rough and steep undulating terrain and is also bordered by the barriers in order to prohibit any unapproved access. In the year 2000, the Los Angeles Police Department had commissioned a security system which had the close-circuit cameras, motion detection and other surveillance systems. Any trespassing that takes place in any of the marked areas creates an alarm through the security system.

As one of the famous and well known Hollywood Attractions Hollywood Sign often makes appearances in the countrys popular culture. Sometimes it is featured for certain film shots and some points of time for television programs that are set up in and around Hollywood. It also appears as the background score to the present day CGI fanfare logo of the 20th Century Fox.
