Historical Past

The cemetery was initially set up as the Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, in the year 1899, by the close of the 20th century had run down. There were some issues pertaining to financial mismanagements, due to which the State of California had to prohibit the land sales. As the bankruptcy proceeding were closing, Tyler Cassity of Forever Enterprises bought the existing 63 acre property in 1998, for a sum total of $375,000. Thus the new name was “Hollywood Forever” and the property was reclaimed and renovated.

All the ban that was levied on sale of land plots have now been taken off as Forever Network took charge of the cemetery.

Famous Tours

Karie Bible, the legendary historian associated with Motion pictures undertakes a walking tour in the cemetery. She presently acts as the “Lady in Black”, who carries forward the tradition of mysterious lady putting a rose on Rudolph Valentino’s grave annually.

The cemetery had witnessed many summers when movies were screened there. At the same time a vast multitude of people came to be a part of the films that were projected on one side of the buildings.

“The Young and the Dead” is a documentary film that was made on the cemetery. Amidst the ones who are entombed here are eminent men and women of performing arts, famous personalities, actors and the like. A particular scene from the famous movie Valentines Day, 2010 was screened here.
