Ontario is the gateway to Southern California. This small town earns much of its claim to fame for housing the Ontario Mills shopping Malls and Ontario International Airport. This region was inhabited by the Tongva tribe who survived on hunting. In the year 1880 the Chaffey brothers bought a considerable portion of the land in Ontario and named it after their hometown in Canada. Now the place has all modern facilities and the main plantation includes citrus fruits and olive. Some of the major companies here are Hewlett Packard, Sunkist Growsers, Mag Instruments, and Graber Olives etc. It is well connected to Los Angeles which lies at a distance of 35 kilometers from here. Other nearby counties includes San Bernardino, Orange and Riverside County. Ontario International Airport is one of the major airports of the whole of California and an alternative for the busy Los Angeles International Airport.

Ontario International Airport came into being in 1998. It is located in Airport Drive in Ontario. The customer friendly staffs, modern waiting lobby, a fully equipped business center are some of the facilities that make this airport a favorite among both the leisure tourists and business client. The state of the art glass enclosed vaulted terminals are less cluttered than the Los Angeles Airport. It overlooks the beautiful San Gabriel Mountains. The airport also serves San Bernardino, Riverside County and parts of Orange County. Some of the leading airliners landing in Ontario International Airport are Aero Mexico, Alaska Airlines, America West, American Airlines, ATA, Azteca, Continental Airlines, Delta Airlines, Jet Blue, South West Airlines, United Airlines, United Express, etc
