Los Angeles is internationally renowned for its stunning Chinese New Year celebrations. The city comes alive to great show and light during the entire period of Chinese New Year with different events being held throughout the city. Chinese New Year is observed with great fervor and enthusiasm in the city, especially in the region of Chinatown’s North Broadway. Golden Dragon Parade and Lantern Festival are the two most popular events that characterize the celebration of the lunar New Year. Apart from these two famous shows, other events are also organized in the city during the time of Spring Festival. These are Floral Street Fair and Tet Festival. New Year games are also organized in the city streets or in different party venues throughout the city.
One of the most popular events of the Chinese New Year celebration, the Dragon Parade holds a quite significant position in the festivities. A Chinese tradition, the parade organized by the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Los Angeles is being held for more than 100 years. The parade, an annual event is attended each year by around 110, 000 people and is aired live on national television. People are seen marching through the Chinatown’s North Broadway region in colorful dresses. The parade will be held in the city on February 5, which is a Saturday.
