Golden Gate Bridge
The orange vermilion colored Golden Gate Bridge is a landmark of San Francisco. If you are a visitor to the city, you must go and see this architectural marvel. The Golden Gate Bridge is the ninth longest suspension bridge in the world. When the bridge was completed in 1937, it was the longest bridge in the world. Construction of this bridge began in 1933 and till the bridge was opened, the cost came to about 35 million dollars. The bridge serves two major purposes – it works as a major roadway for regular commuters and also as an attractive tourist destination. The golden gate bridge is opened to auto and bicycle traffic for 24 hours, but for pedestrians it is open only during daylight hours. Two of the most popular spots for tourists to Golden Gate Bridge are the south vista point and the north vista point. The south vita point is in the San Francisco side while the north vita point is towards the Marin side. 
What to do?
There are lots of things you can do, while visiting the bridge and get a unique experience. During daylight hours, pedestrians including cyclists and wheelchair users can access the east sidewalks during the weekdays from 5 am to 3:30 pm. It will be better if you wear comfortable shoes for walking and layered clothes. If you are looking to carry mementos for your loved once, a visit to the gift centre located there will be ideal. Some of the things, which are available at the gift centre, are souvenirs, books posters, videos etc.
To know about the construction statistics of the bridge, you can see a cross section of one of the bridge's main cables, where it is displayed. There is a café at the southeast part of the bridge; so if you are
looking to eat something while visiting the bridge, you must go there. The café is opened everyday, during winters the timings are 9:30 am to 5 pm, while during summers it is opened from 9 am to 7 pm. The variety of snacks, which one can get there, includes desserts, salads, muffins, sandwiches, sodas, water etc.
