Till 1924 the tournament was open to the tennis players only from France. From the year 1925 the competition was opened to the international competitors. French Open History got further enriched with the completion of a new stadium in 1928 named after a World War I pilot named Roland Garros. The new stadium with its state of the art Center Court called Court Philippe Chatrier hosted Davis Cup Challenge.
In the History of French Open Tennis one of the significant events occurred in 1968 when the event attained the unique distinction of being an "open" Grand Slam competition with room for both the armatures and the professionals.
