Focusing more on increasing the quality of tourists it attracts, rather than the number of tourists who visit the nation, Peru wants to establish itself as a luxury travel destination. And why not? In 2007, the number of luxury tourists who came to Peru was 200,000 according to Carlos Alberto Arrarte, President of Lima Tours. He was also confident that this figure would increase by 20 percent by the end of the present year. Peru hotels are expected to welcome many more tourists than last year. If Peru is to attract wealthy tourists, Peru hotels would need to pull up their socks for sure.
