Miami Children’s Museum is located on Watson Island in Miami. The museum was founded in 1983 and was later shifted to its present location in Watson Island. Miami Children’s’ Museum was earlier known as Miami Youth Museum. Over the years, it became an important educational center for the public and especially for the children. Miami Children’s Museum history
The museum was founded in its earlier location in West Kendall and was known as Miami Youth Museum. After 12 years of extensive planning by the museum authorities, the center relocated to Watson Island. On September 7, 2003 the museum opened as Miami Children’s Museum. Most of the collections in the museum relates to the life of children, nature, and education.
The museum’s goal since then has been an entertainment and education institution for the children and adults alike. It encourages fun, creativity, and skill development for school-goers.
This cultural center measures 56,500 square foot and is designed by Arquitectonica. Miami Children’s Museum hosts a number of exhibits about art, nature, marine life, banking and supermarket models meant for education. The place also has a huge collection of learning materials related to culture, community, and history of Miami. The museum building comprises 12 galleries, classrooms, art centers, gift shop, and a restaurant. The popular attractions and features of Miami Children’s Museum include the following:

Permanent exhibits at Miami Children’s Museum
There are many permanent exhibits on display in the 12 galleries of the museums. Following are some of the prominent exhibits here:
- Castle of Dreams You need to climb through a two-storey sandcastle and land on a pile of sand.
- Bank Here you walk through a six-foot piggy bank. The most interesting part is that you can design your own bills, learn how to save, spend and earn money.
- Health & Wellness Center This educational model will help you understand about medical and biological aspects.
- Pet Central Pets should be loved and cared. Here you can come across some useful tips for keeping pets.
- Safety Zone See what life is like for real-life heroes. Dress in costume, cruise on a police motorcycle or steer a fire truck to the rescue.
- Meet Miami Meet Miami would be a tour around different places and neighborhood in the early years.
- The Sea and Me It is a small water park gallery for children below 5-years.
- Ocean Odyssey The 900-gallon marine tank in Ocean Odyssey will help you explore some marine secrets.
- Port of Miami This exhibit gives the details of Port Miami. You will come to know what happens at a port from importing and exporting products and other activities.
- World Music Studio Music styles and tunes from different cultures in United States and other international destinations. The music studio is a place to discover music myths.
- Mount MiChiMu Stand on the top of Mt. MiChiMu! It is a both challenging and fun activity at the Miami Children’s Museum.
