Male

Hulhule Island
Hulhule is an island situated in the North Male Atoll. The island enjoys its proximity to the capital of the country. The Male International Airport is situated on the Hulhule island and this is the reason why Hulhule is called the airport island. Aside from the airport, there are some important offices on the island like Maldivian Bureau of Meteorology. The airport operates a range of international holiday charter flights (usually European). Many scheduled airlines such as Qatar Air, Emirates, Malaysian Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Air Sri Lanka offer flights to and from Male. Other than operating as a domestic and international airport, Hulhule also houses the seaplane terminal run by both Trans Maldivian Airways and Maldivian Air Taxi. Prior to the construction of the airport, the island was the habitation of the indigenous Giraavaru people. In 1968, they were compelled to leave their inherited houses on Giraavaru Island because of an Islamic ruling that did not accept groups with less than 40 adult male individuals who could make a gathering at the Friday prayers. The inhabitants of Giraavaru were shipped across the atoll to Hulhule Island. At the time of the expansion of the airport, they were moved across to Male and domiciled in some areas in newly developed regions in the Maafannu district.
The Hulhule Island Hotel is a famous hotel, situated on the island. It is more popular for passengers staying overnight than resort hotels.
Gan Island
Gan Island is famous for the Gan International Airport. It is one of the largest islands in the country. The island is known for its diverse variety of flora and fauna. A number of international and domestic airlines fly from this island, which include Maldivian (the national airline), Trans Maldivian Airways, and Blue Panorama.
Fuvahmulah Island
Fuvahmulah is a big island in the country. The people of Fuvahmulah converse in the Mulaki baha language, which is a vernacular of the Dhivehi language. This island is an administrative district of Maldives. The principal tourist destinations in Fuvahmulah Island are Dhadimago, DhiguvÄndo, HÅdhado, MÄdhado, and MÄlegan.
