Acoustics at Walt Disney Concert Hall
The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is in the backside of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. The last stage of construction was finished just in 2003 spring. The Philharmonic orchestra waited for the fall and during summer, the orchestra and Master Chorale got acquainted with the new hall. The time when the hall was preparing for a grand inauguration, the philharmonic orchestra was also getting ready. It created a sensation in the whole country and many donors, journalists, critics and board members were invited to witness the dry run. It was an amazing meet of the musicians and the listeners, rather, a historic event. Esa Pekka Salonen, the music director of the Philharmonic Orchestra was overwhelmed at this occurrence. This was one of the greatest openings in the history of America.

Reflection Problems at Walt Disney Concert Hall
After the latest construction, the Founders Room Exteriors were enhanced. The exterior of the grand building was done with stainless steel. The steel-made outer surface had a lusterless finish. On the other hand, the Children’s Amphitheater and the Founders Room walls were doodled with mirror-like panels. The concave section of the panels intensified the light reflection. As a result, the nearby residents were hugely affected. They suffered from unbearable heat of sub reflected from the exteriors. Repeated complaints from their end made the owners of the hall to ask Gehry partners for a solution. In 2005, the at fault mirrors were blunted and that made either side happy.

Concert organ at Walt Disney Concert Hall
A large concert organ was an integral part of the design of the hall. It was completed in 2004 and the National Convention of American Guild of Organists took place here in July 2004. With Frederick Swann’s recitation on 30th September, 2004, the hall was opened for public. Two days later, a concert featured Todd Wilson, the famous director. The portico of the concert organ at Walt Disney Concert Hall was planned by famous sound engineer and organ consultant Manuel Rosales. The final design was the upshot of Gehry’s creative and Rosales’s logical thinking. Finally, the organ was built by renowned German builder, Casper Glatter.
