New Year's Day:

Pager Wesi:


It is a Hindu event in Indonesia and is celebrated every year in the country. The festival marks the climax of the celebration of Balinese lunar New Year. The name of the event means ‘iron fence’ in literal terms. Eating chicken and pork, masked dances, extravagantly decorated tall bamboo poles and many other traditional activities mark the celebration of the event. The date of the event differs from year to year; this year Pager Wesi will be celebrated on the 29th of March 2011.

Kuningan Ceremony:


The ceremony basically marks the end of the lunar New Year celebration in Indonesia. It is a 10 days long event which is held on various dates every year. It is scheduled to be held on the 6th of July 2011. On this day yellow rice and special dish offerings are made. Every house and temples are beautifully decorated, creating a feel of festivity everywhere.

Java Jazz Festival:


The jazz festival, first organized in the year 2005 has come a long way since its start. It is one of the very popular music events in the country. Though jazz is the major aspect of the festival, but there are other genres of music as well which attracts all kinds of music enthusiasts.
