Hohenzollern Castle
Hohenzollern Castle is a popular attraction in Germany. The castle that dates back to 11th century draws a significant number of visitors. Located about 50 kilometers south of Stuttgart, Germany, the castle is considered as the ancestral property of the Hohenzollern families. The castle is situated atop Mount Hohenzollern at a height of 855 meters above Heichengen and Bisingen. These both are situated at the foothills of Swabian Alb.History of Hohenzollern Castle
The original castle was completely ruined in 1423 by the imperial cities in Swabia. After the destruction, a second castle was built during the period of 1454 to 1461. This castle was the refuse for the Catholic Swabian Hohenzollerns during war. However, this castle too faced destruction. Presently only one chapel exists from the medieval castle. The third castle was built during the period of 1846 – 1867. The third castle is the present castle that was put up for Frederick William IV of Prussia. Since this castle was built as a family memorial, the Hohenzollern family did not live there until 1945. Prince Wilhelm, the last Prussian Crown and his wife resided in the castle after 1945.

The castle has been home to many art and historical works since 1952. The castle boasts of collection of the Hohenzollern family and Prussian history. The famous collection of the castle include Crown of Wilhelm II, a letter from US President George Washington thanking Baron von Steuben, personal effects of Frederick, and a scion of the House of Hohenzollern. The Castle has presently become a popular Germany attraction with the tourists. This castle is one of the most visited castles in Germany.

The Hohenzollern Castle in Germany can directly be reached by train or bus. Train service directly connects Hechingen from Stuttgart Airport through Stuttgart central station.

Guided Tours of Hohenzollern Castle
-There are various guided tours organized for the visitors. In general, the castle offers guided tours in German language. However, tours in other foreign languages are also available. You can opt for an English, Italian, Spanish, French, Russian, or Japanese guided tour. A tour in foreign language requires a group of minimum 20 people on request. Groups having less than 20 people are charged a fixed rate of 120, 00 Euro. All guided tours in foreign languages require a reservation. While on a guided tour, you will also get guidebooks in foreign language. These guidebooks offer a great help to understand a guided tour in German language. The guidebooks are rated at 3,00 euro each. A guided tour of the whole castle including the castle grounds and cellar rooms nearly takes around two hours.

Hohenzollern Castle Admission Rates
–There are various rates fixed for touring the museum. You can buy tickets for any particular trip. The admission rates for the castle are as follows –
Castle grounds only (including courtyard, 2 churches, cellar rooms)
Castle grounds and guided tour interior (the interior of the museum can only visited with a guided tour)
