Xian Tours

The eternal city of Xian has stood witness to the great changes of the Chinese nation for 3100 years. It was known as Chang'an in the ancient times and is one of the birthplaces of the ancient civilization in the Yellow River Basin area of the country. The city that enjoys equal fame with Athens, Cairo and Rome as one of the four major ancient civilization capitals, has been the capital of 13 dynasties since the ancient times. Xian's history makes it a place of great tourist attractions and Xian tours take you through the abundant relics and sights that give it the laudatory title of “Natural History Museum”.

Of the most popular places to visit in Xian,China is the Museum of Terracotta Horses and Warriors. The most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century, this army of terracotta horses and warriors arranged in battle formation lies a short distance away from the Qinshihuang Mausoleum. An onsite museum has been built for tourists to experience this sculpting wonder and this museum features as the eighth major miracle of the world, and tops every traveler's itinerary.

80 kilometers from the city is another of the Xian attractions, the Qianling Mausoleum. First built in 684, it is one of the best preserved tombs among the Tang Dynasty's 18 mausoleums. Exquisite and elegant stone sculptures scatter around everywhere in the mausoleum site, perched on top of the mountain for over 1200 years. Winged horses and rose finches line the sacred path and the journey through the path takes you back to the ancient times, when supreme rulers had propitious creatures, birds, beasts placed in front of their mausoleum to guard them.

On one of your Xian tours, do visit the ancient, religious pagodas which have withstood the ravages of time and nature. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda and the Small Wild Goose Pagoda are two important Buddhism sites dating back to the Tang Dynasty over 1000 years old.

Another one of the tourist attractions in Xian is the city wall which dates back to the Tang Dynasty. It is the most complete city wall that has survived in China and it is also one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world. Tourists love to ride their bike on the city wall as it is wide enough to ride 5 bikes on.

The other places to visit in Xian, China are the Shaanxi Provincial Museum, Forest of Steles, Banpo Village Ruins and Famen Temple among others. The Ancient Silk Route starts from Xiang, extending from Asia to Europe which played an important role in the cultural exchange between the East and the West in the ancient times.

A visit to Xian takes you back in time to the ancient Dynasties and civilizations. Go ahead and take a dip into the pool of history for a sneak peek into the old times.
