Rowing events at the Paralympic games are for rowers with a disability who meet the criteria set out in the Adaptive rowing classification regulations. The equipment are adapted to the rowers thereby making it adaptive. It was introduced into the Paralympic program in 2005. It is one of the events in the 2008 Beijing Summer Paralympics, the 13th edition of the Summer Paralympics, which will take place in September 2008 from 6th to 17th for the first time.

The International Rowing Federation (FISA) is the sole world governing body for Rowing creating rules and regulations for the sport. Currently rowing is practiced by athletes in 24 countries.
Adaptive Rowing currently has four boat classes which are adapted for different types of disabilities.
The four boat classes are:
- LTA4+ (Legs, trunk and arms coxed four) is raced over 1000 metres (since 2006 - previously 2000 metres) equipped with sliding seat. Used by both men and women.
- TA2x (trunk and arms double scull) is raced over 1000 metres equipped with fixed seat. Used by both men and women.
- AW1x (women's single, arms only) is raced over 1000 metres equipped with fixed seat. Used only for women.
- AM1x (men's single, arms only) is raced over 1000 metres equipped with fixed seat. Used only for men.
The hull of the adaptive rowing boat is similar to normal boats. They are equipped with special seats, which change according to the disability of the rower. Smaller boats have buoyancy devices called pontoons acting as stabilizers attached to the boats riggers providing extra lateral balance.
The Rowing events in the 2008 Summer Paralympic Games in Beijing will take place on the 9th and 10th September with the finals on 11th September.
