The 2008 Summer Olympics is officially called the 'Games of the XXIX Olympiad'. The event will take place from August 8, 2008 to August 24, 2008. Amongst the many events that are going to be included, Sailing will also be one of them. The game of Sailing at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics will be held from August 9 to 21. The competition of Sailing will take place in Qingdao, at the Qingdao International Marina. The art of controlling a sailing vessel is known as Sailing.

In order to change the direction and speed of a boat the sailor manages the force of the wind on the sails by adjusting the rigging, rudder and dagger or center board. The Sailing Events will be open for both men and women. The fleet racing format will be followed in the sailing events.
