2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Sports one of the glittering events is going to witness a gala opening ceremony on 8th of August in 2008. The event will close down on August 24. It is officially called the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. As early as on May 2007 the construction of all the 31 venues have started.

In the first round the teams will be divided into two groups and they will play with each other. Then the best two from both the groups advance for a single elimination. Then there will be 2 semi final games and one gold medal and one bronze medal games.

The Qualification for Hockey is based on a series of tournaments. China is secured of a position because of it being the host nation. To determine 8 or 9 other Continental qualifiers there will be 5 continental championships. In the final stage 3 Olympic qualification tournaments would be held to determine the final entrants.

The Slogan for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Sports is "One World One Dream". It is a call to the whole world to join hands for a better future. The slogan was chosen from nearly 210,000 entries.
