With a tradition of more than 100 years attached to its name, the festival is organized on the western outskirts of Men Tou Gou.
The Beijing International Kite Festival kicks off with the traditional dragon dances, heavy music and a riot of beautiful kites. Kite flying teams from various countries come over to participate in this festival. The different kinds of designs on the kites are the most attractive sights of the occasion. The motif of the Chinese Dragon is the most popular and artistic of all kinds, the butterfly, parafoil, kites with bamboo whistle being the other patterns that are worked upon.
The forthcoming Beijing International Kite Festival 2008 is slated to be held from 1st April 2008 to 30th April 2008 and is expected to attract the usual walloping number of people, thus making the occasion a successful one.
Weifang International Kite Festival and Chao Yang Park International Kite Festival are the two other important Kite Festivals in China.
