Largest World Airports

There are 2 distinct ways in which you can ascertain the size of an airport. Firstly, it is the physical size and the other is the traffic of passengers the airport attracts. When we refer to air traffic, we assume that an individual or a passenger is landing at the airport, taking off on another flight or availing a connecting flight.

There is another way in which the size of the airport is determined. The number of aero planes taking off and landing at the airport also determines whether it is one of the largest airports in the world.

Let us take the example of Washington National Airport where there is plenty of aero plane movement. However, it does have a limitation. And that is it cannot handle aero planes that are larger than Boeing 757.

Having a lot of traffic may not always be one of the parameters to decide whether an airport is one of the world’s largest airports. So, you may well come across an airport where there may not be huge traffic but due to several other parameters, it has been rated as one of the largest world airports.
